I used to draw and sketch as a kid. I started by copying cartoons from comic books. As I got older, I started reading, superhero comic books, and my sketching got more realistic. I would spend hours and hours filling notebooks with my sketches.
At some point, it became not cool. I became distracted from drawing and painting and sketching. Because…life.
Fast forward many years, both my daughters are super creative, one with music and visual arts, and the other with creating costumes and performance art.
Their mother was creative like that -and I guess they may have gotten a little bit of that from me as well.
I tell people I wish I could go back to those days where I could paint and sketch at will. I usually say I am a frustrated artist.
The truth is, I am still an artist. And my medium is my work. I am a chiropractor..
Every day, I am trying to refine my work.
“Does this work better than this other thing? Should I do more? Should I do less?
I need to learn more, but I can’t clutter my mind.
Mind has to be uncluttered so you can recognize what you need to do at what time when you’re in the flow.
“Why did you do that?”
I don’t know. I didn’t feel it was perfect until now.
If I want to change your life, I have to deliver the most perfect adjustment. Every single time.
I have to work hard to keep my mind uncluttered from accumulated daily crap that everyone has to deal with.
I believe that anything you do in life can be art. If you clean toilets for a living you can turn your work into art by seeking perfection, by trying to reach the highest levels in “restroom sanitation” or whatever is the fancy term for that.
I am proud to be a chiropractor and proud to finally be doing my art.
