Alcohol Linked to Pancreatic Cancer
People in the habit of unwinding with a couple of drinks each night are putting themselves at great risk to develop cancer of the pancreas.
After collecting data from over 860,000 pancreatic cancer patients, a study conducted by the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center found that men who had more than two alcoholic drinks a day, and women who had more than one alcoholic drink a day, were 22 percent more likely to develop pancreatic cancer.
One drink was defined as follows: 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled liquor. The results were the same regardless of what kind of alcohol was being consumed.
The study concluded with a warning, urging men to have no more than two alcoholic drinks a day, and women to have only one alcoholic drink a day.
